At Matheson, our trainee programme is just the start of our investment in your future. We offer our lawyers career development through structured training programmes in partnership with world class executive education providers and trainers.

All our structured programmes are underpinned by our 70:20:10 framework, ensuring that our lawyers engage in experimental and on the job learning, peer to peer learning, active reflection, feedback, coaching and mentoring, as well as formal classroom based training and development.

Career First Programme

A dedicated programme for first year undergraduate students which gives an engaging and practical insight into life at Matheson. Over the course of the programme, students will attend a two day skills workshop, complete a short work placement in our offices, visit clients office space to learn about the role of an in-house lawyer and attend various social events. (12 months)

Summer Internship Programme

During this programme interns will experience what life in a law firm is like while working with our talented legal and tax professionals and our trainees on transactions for international companies and financial institutions doing business in and from Ireland. (four weeks)

Trainee Development Programme

Supports trainees to make the transition from law student to trainee solicitor and to provide them with the knowledge, skills and expertise that our clients demand. Our comprehensive approach ensures that our trainees develop the right skills through a combination of in-office partner and associate mentoring, project work, formal training sessions and regular feedback.
