Greg Lockhart heads up both the firm's VAT & Customs consultancy practice within the Tax Department at Matheson and the firms Tax Controversy & Tax Litigation Practice.

Greg, a barrister, has extensive experience in advising clients with regard to developing appropriate litigation strategies suitable to a client’s business needs and the particular complexities of tax legislation. He also personally advocates cases on behalf of clients with regard to tax appeals.

Greg is widely sought after for his experience in advising clients with regard to Revenue enquiries both in respect to domestic tax matters and also State aid enquiries with respect to Irish tax.

He is widely recognised both nationally and internationally for his experience and expertise in advising clients in relation to the complexities of international VAT compliance and Irish and international VAT planning opportunities. In addition to advising in relation to VAT issues he is retained as international adviser to a number of entities within the aviation industry in relation to general indirect tax issues including Customs Duty issues that arise within the sector.

Greg has lectured extensively for the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland, the Irish Taxation Institute and the Institute of Chartered Accounts in Ireland.
